Dominica is not the Dominican Republic, and its track is nothing like that one either. The Dominica racing game runs through river jungle on a track drawn from Dominica's coastline: up from Saint Peter past Pointe Ronde and Saint John to Prince Rupert Bluff Point, round through Marceau Bay, Saint Andrew and Crompton Point, then down by Saint David to Roseau and Saint Mark. Thirteen corners, 4.3 km.

The Grand Prix of Dominica rolls through the rainforest with 35 metres of climb. Each corner takes its name from the parish, point or bay it traces.

Around the Dominica track

Roseau's cathedral and the Boiling Lake are the landmarks, with a waterfall dropping through the trees and a Kalinago hut by the roadside. Banana plants crowd the verges, and the houses are painted in Caribbean pastels. Pickups and minibuses are parked along the fences. The banner says Welcome and Bienvini, and the boards read Roseau. Under clear skies, the jungle is green right to the edge of the track.

How to drive the Dominica circuit

Saint Peter, turn 1, waits at the end of a 1,110-metre straight, so it's a big stop and a chance to pass. Two corners later comes the slowest, Saint John at 75 km/h. After that the lap rolls along the coast, with 35 metres of climb spread across the jungle.
