Sand hangs in the air over this Chad racing game, and underneath it sits a track drawn from Chad's border. The lap starts in the far north at Jabal bin Ghunaymah, swings east into the Ennedi, then runs south through Hadjer Tordan, Sila and the Mbang Mountains before turning back past the two Mayo-Kebbi corners to finish at Lac. That's nine corners in 4.3 km, each one named after the place on the border it follows.

The Ennedi arches and the Place de la Nation make up the big landmark here, rising out of the canyon. A Sahel mud mosque stands by the track, camels wander near the dunes, and the cars parked behind the fences are Land Cruisers, with the odd camel among them. The banner greets you in Arabic and French, and the barrier boards read N'Djamena. A sand haze softens everything in the distance, so the far corners come at you late.
