The Congo racing game is laid out on an airfield, and the shape of it comes from the map. It's a race track shaped like Congo: the lap starts at Ngabé, runs down through Kinkala and Pool to Kouilou, back inland past Niari and Mossendjo, then north through Plateaux and the two Cuvette corners to Sembe, Sangha and Likouala. Fifteen corners in 4.3 km, each named after the real place it traces.

This is the Congo with Brazzaville on its boards. DR Congo, across the river, has a circuit of its own.

Around the Congo track

With just 5 metres of climb, the airfield gives you long sightlines. The Basilique Sainte-Anne of Brazzaville stands beyond the run-off, the Nabemba tower rises over the town, and barges sit on the river. Banana plants grow along the edges, and minibuses and mopeds are parked by the fences. The banner reads Bienvenue au Congo, the boards say Brazzaville, and the sky is clear.

How to drive the Congo circuit

Turn 1 is Ngabé, at the end of a 1,040-metre main straight, and it's where most passes happen. After that the lap flicks through 14 more corners with barely a bump. The slowest is Monts Badondo at 91 km/h, turn 12: get it right and you carry speed through Sangha and Likouala to the line.
