A harbour lap that stays flat and close to the water, this Uruguay racing game takes its shape from the whole country. The track is drawn from Uruguay's border and coastline: from Bella Unión in the far north through Artigas, Rivera and Cerro Largo, down to Rocha and La Paloma, west past Maldonado and Montevideo along the Río de la Plata, the wide estuary between Uruguay and Argentina, and north again through Colonia and Fray Bentos.

Eighteen corners over 4.3 km and just 7 metres of climb make it a lap of rhythm.

Around the Uruguay track

Palacio Salvo rises over the waterfront, and the giant hand sculpture of Punta del Este reaches out of the sand further round. A gaucho estancia sits among the wheat fields inland. The marina is lined with colonial-style buildings, cars and buses are parked by the fences, and the banner reads Bienvenidos a Uruguay. The boards name Punta del Este, Colonia, Salto, Paysandú and Montevideo.

How to drive the Uruguay circuit

The 640-metre main straight ends at Bella Unión, turn 1, and the slowest corner follows two turns later: Tranqueras, at 78 km/h. Get through that opening section cleanly and the long run round the coast flows well, flat all the way, with Montevideo and Colonia late in the lap.
