There's barely a rise on this lap: six metres of climb in 4.3 km. The Botswana racing game follows a track drawn from Botswana's border, from Southern into Kgalagadi and past Bokspits, up the west through Charles Hill and Ghanzi, across the north at Mohembo and Kasane, then down through North-East and Central to finish. Thirteen corners, each named for the place it traces.
The Botswana Grand Prix is a lake park course under clear skies.

Around the Botswana track
The Okavango's waterways and the Three Dikgosi Monument, three tall bronze figures, are the main sights. Elephants wander near the lake, a baobab spreads over the savanna, and rondavel huts with thatched roofs make up the village by the track. Four-by-fours and pickups park by the fence. A banner reads Re a le amogela, and the boards say Francistown, Okavango, Kalahari, Maun, Chobe and Gaborone.

How to drive the Botswana circuit
The 630-metre main straight ends at Southern, turn 1. The slowest corner is the last one, Central, at 78 km/h, which feeds straight back onto the straight. With only 6 metres of climb, there's no slope to help you slow down, so braking points have to be judged on the flat.
