Old-school

Old-school and hilly, this Zimbabwe racing game is laid out like a classic circuit of an earlier era, with 41 metres of climb through the savanna. It's a race track shaped like Zimbabwe, starting at Victoria Falls in the west, running up through Matabeleland North and the Mashonaland provinces, east to the Inyanga Mountains and Manicaland, then south through Masvingo to Beitbridge and back west to Plumtree.

Twelve corners, each named after the place it traces, make a 4.3 km lap.

Around the Zimbabwe track

The stone walls of Great Zimbabwe stand on the hills, and the balancing rocks pile up in unlikely stacks nearby. A Zimbabwe bird stands by the track. The savanna stretches away between the villages, minibuses and pickups are parked behind the fences, and the banner says Mauya and Welcome. The boards read Bulawayo, Mutare, Zambezi, Kariba, Victoria Falls and Harare.

How to drive the Zimbabwe circuit

Turn 1 is the corner that matters. The 590-metre main straight ends at Victoria Falls, and at 85 km/h it's also the slowest corner of the lap, so it's the big stop and the best place to pass. After that the old-school layout flows through the hills all the way to Plumtree.
