Old town

Nineteen corners in 3.7 km, through the streets of an old town. The Bulgaria racing game lays out a race track shaped like Bulgaria: Ruse at the end of the straight, then Silistra and Dobrich, down the Black Sea coast to Varna and Burgas, west through Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan along the south, up through Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil and Sofia, and round to Vidin. Every corner is named after a place on the border.

The Bulgarian Grand Prix climbs 46 metres through hilly streets, with clear skies overhead.

Around the Bulgaria track

The domes of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral sit above the old town. Rila monastery appears further round, and a revival-era house with timber upper floors leans over the street. Baroque facades line the route, sunflower fields fill the open ground beyond, and Ladas and cars park along the kerbs. A banner reads Добре дошли, and the boards name Plovdiv, Varna, Rila, Burgas, Pirin and Sofia.
