There's barely a straight to speak of in the Guyana racing game. This is a track drawn from Guyana's border and coast, and it twists through 21 corners in 4.3 km: Georgetown and Corriverton on the coast, a run of three Mahaica-Berbice corners, the Serra Acaraí and Lethem in the far south, then Mount Wakarapang, the Ekereku Mountains and Baramita on the way back to Barima-Waini.

It's a hilly river-jungle lap with 58 metres of climb, and the Grand Prix of Guyana suits drivers who like corners more than speed.

Around the Guyana track

Kaieteur Falls pours off a cliff into the rainforest, and St George's wooden cathedral stands among the town buildings. Stilt houses sit above the ground by the river, sugarcane grows in the clearings, and the Caribbean pastel colours of town give way to deep green jungle. Minibuses and pickups line the fences, the crowd waves flags, and a banner says Welcome to Guyana. Georgetown is on the boards.

How to drive the Guyana circuit

The main straight is only 280 metres, ending at Cuyuni-Mazaruni, so overtaking means outbraking someone in the corners instead. The slowest is the middle of the three Mahaica-Berbice turns, turn 9, at 77 km/h. The hills come and go all lap, and the corners flow one into the next.
