New Zealand races on its South Island here. The New Zealand racing game takes a race track shaped like the South Island, from Pakawau Inlet and Tasman across to Picton and the Marlborough Sounds, past Cook Strait, down the east through Christchurch, Banks Peninsula and Ashburton to the Otago Peninsula, then round Invercargill and up through Te Anau and Fiordland.

It's the South Island Grand Prix, a dramatic mountain lap by a lake with 95 metres of climb, in the spirit of the roads around Queenstown.

Around the New Zealand track

Aoraki / Mount Cook rises above the Southern Alps, the landmark of the lap. The road runs down to a lake, a stone church stands by the shore, and sheep graze on the hills. Utes, campers and cars are parked by the fences. A Kia ora banner hangs over the crowd, and the boards read Auckland, Queenstown, Christchurch, Rotorua, Taupō and Hampton Downs.
