New Zealand's North Island gets its own lap in this North Island racing game, apart from the New Zealand circuit, which is drawn from the South Island. This one is drawn from the North Island's coastline: Cook Strait at turn 1, up the west through Taranaki, Manukau, Auckland and Waitakere, north to Whangarei and Kaitaia, then back down through Northland and Waikato to the Coromandel, the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne.
The North Island Grand Prix is a harbour layout, rolling with 24 metres of climb over 4.6 km.

Around the North Island track
The Sky Tower rises over Auckland's harbour, and the lap runs round the water beneath it. A carved Māori wharenui meeting house stands by the track, a geyser sends up steam, and sheep graze the green hills. Utes, campervans and cars are parked behind the fences. The banner says 'Kia ora · Welcome', and the boards name Auckland, Rotorua, Taupō, Napier, Taranaki and Hampton Downs.

How to drive the North Island circuit
The 930-metre straight ends at Cook Strait, turn 1, named for the water between the two islands. From there the lap rolls up the west coast to Kaitaia, turn 7, the slowest corner at 73 km/h, out in the far north. A clean exit there sets up the long run back south.
