This Philippines racing game is a race track shaped like the Philippines' largest island, Luzon, and the Luzon Grand Prix follows its coast all the way round. From Ilocos Norte at the northern tip, the lap heads down the east side through Cagayan, Isabela and Aurora, out along the long southern arm to Naga, Legazpi and Sorsogon, then back past Tayabas Bay, Batangas and Bataan to Pangasinan and La Union.

Mindanao has a circuit of its own. This one is hazy and dramatic, with 111 metres of climb packed into 4 km.

Around the Philippines track

Mayon Volcano rises over the lap, and the road climbs its lower slopes before dropping back to the rice paddies. A haze sits over the hills. Look out for a rice-terrace hut in the Banaue style and a Spanish baroque church, with banana plants between the fields and jeepneys, tuk-tuks and mopeds parked behind the fences. The banner reads 'Mabuhay!' and the boards name Manila, Cebu, Palawan and Boracay.

How to drive the Philippines circuit

Only 380 metres of straight lead into Ilocos Norte at turn 1, so a pass there needs commitment. The climbing comes in the volcanic country, where the lap goes up toward Mayon and then falls away again. Sorsogon, turn 11, is the slowest corner at 76 km/h, right after Legazpi.
