Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, looks down on every lap of this Tanzania racing game. The track is drawn from Tanzania's border and coastline, starting at Moshi in the shadow of the mountain and running down the coast through Tanga, Dar-Es-Salaam and Lindi, round Cabo Delgado, then west along the southern border to Rukwa and up past Kigoma to finish at Bukoba.

It's set on a high plateau, 4.9 km long, with a dramatic 77 metres of climb.

Around the Tanzania track

Kilimanjaro fills the horizon, and giraffes stand on the savanna below it. A Zanzibar dhow sits off the shore, and a Stone Town house with a carved wooden door stands among the village buildings. Land cruisers and minibuses are parked at the fences, the crowd waves flags under a Karibu Tanzania banner, and the boards read Zanzibar, Arusha, Serengeti, Mwanza and Dodoma.
