A 1,400-metre straight, then a slow, careful finish. This Brunei racing game takes a track drawn from Brunei's border and runs it along the riverfront: Muara at the end of the straight, then Brunei and Muara and Tutong, inland through Kampung Belabau and Bukit Bedawan, and into Belait, where five of the lap's 12 corners share the name. Belait 5, the last of them, is the slowest bend on the circuit.
The Grand Prix of Brunei is a flat harbour course with only 6 metres of climb, under clear skies.

Around the Brunei track
The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, its golden dome rising above the water, is the big landmark. Beside it, the Kampong Ayer stilt village stands over the river on wooden piles, linked by walkways. Palm-oil plantations stretch inland, Southeast Asian houses line the riverfront, and SUVs and cars park by the fences. A banner reads Selamat datang, and the boards say Bandar Seri Begawan.

How to drive the Brunei circuit
At 1,400 metres, the main straight is about a third of the lap, and it ends at Muara. The slowest corner is the very last, Belait 5, at 62 km/h, so a clean exit there is worth a lot of speed down the straight. Flat ground, 6 metres of climb: it's all about braking.
