The track is drawn from Ukraine's border and coastline, so the lap starts at Zaporizhzhya, heads west through Kherson, Mykolayiv and Odessa, runs up through Vinnytsya and Chernivtsi to Volyn and Kovel, then crosses the north through Chernihiv and Sumy to Kharkiv.

The Motherland Monument stands tall over the city, and the golden domes of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra catch the light across the rooftops. Soviet-era apartment blocks line the streets, haystacks sit in the fields beyond, and sunflowers and wheat stretch to the horizon.
